Why Field Notes

The name reflects the method. A field note is a record made in the place and moment of observation, before interpretation arrives and tidies the details into a conclusion. It is a form of precision that resists the smoothing over of complexity that characterises much popular nutrition writing.

The nutrition conversation in England — and more broadly in the English-speaking world — tends toward directive. It offers lists, programmes, and rankings. Bremond Field Notes operates from a different starting point: the belief that documentation precedes direction, and that understanding what people actually eat, how they actually move, and how those habits actually relate to weight over time, is more useful than another list of what they should be doing instead.

The publication is not affiliated with any commercial, governmental, or institutional body. It does not receive funding from food producers, supplement manufacturers, or wellness industry sponsors. Its editorial independence is the source of its value.
